In April 2017, our classes 9a and 9c went on a class trip to London. Our teachers Mrs Plünnecke, Mrs Mehren and Mr Ohrndorf accompanied us.
We went there by bus and then by ferry over the English channel. It took us approximately 11 hours to get to London, Morden. All of us were tired, but also happy to get to know our host families and to speak English with real native speakers.
On the first day in London, all of us were very excited. It was fantastic to see all the famous sights and red double decker busses in real. After the Horse Guards Parade at the Old Admiralty Building, we went to the Palace of Westminster. As we stand in front of the majestic Big Ben, many of us couldn´t believe our own eyes. Then we went to the London Eye and enjoyed the bird´s - eye view of the city. In the evening, we visited Greenwich Park with the famous Prime Meridian, where east meets west, and were proud to be in the Eastern and Western hemisphere at the same time.
The day after, we went to the Tower Bridge and enjoyed the view of the historic Tower of London. After that, we took the tube to get to Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guards. We hoped to see the Queen, but she was not there, that´s why we were a little bit disappointed. In the afternoon, we had a lot of time for shopping at the luxury department store Harrods and at the Piccadilly Circus.
Our third day we started with visiting of the Madame Tussauds Museum. We took hundreds or maybe even thousands of photos with different celebrities from all over the world. It was fun! Then we went to Little Venice, a very scenic and the most romantic part of London, which is famous for its canals. From there we took a cosy boat to Camden Market, where we bought many gifts for our parents and friends. It was our last evening in London and we were a little bit upset, because the time flew very quickly.
Next morning we bid goodbye to our host families and wended our way back to Germany. Our class trip was great and we will never forget it!
